Trophy Winners List - 2001
This years event had a total of 115 pre entrants, of which 70 competed on the day, including two original billy carts from the 1950s and 60s. There were approximately 600-700 spectators. Barry Palmer from KLFM compered the event and trophies and prizes were awarded by Member for Bendigo West Mr Bob Cameron and Mt Alexander Shire Mayor Geoff Austerberry. There were a number of spectacular runs and crashes with record speeds also set again this year. Speeds were measured by Police Radar and times by stopwatch. The event was supported by the Mt Alexander Shire, Castlemaine Police, Castlemaine Blue Light, Castlemaine Swimming Club, Castlemaine C.F.A, Chewton C.F.A, Elphinstone CFA, Castlemaine SES & St Johns Ambulance. The event was sponsored by Mt Alexander Shire, Star Electronics, Extremity Street & Surf, Jermyns Records, Graaf Computer Systems, Olivers Sportscene, Capones Pizza, Fuel Restaurant, Tait Carriages, Criterion Hotel, Castlemaine Traditional Smallgoods and Gary Moore Signs & Graphic Design. A special thank you to all the individuals who donated their time to help, Barry Palmer for supplying all the P.A. equipment and keeping the crowd entertained all day and all the participants. We will hold the 6th annual Billy Cart Bash in May 2002 (2nd last Sunday) so start getting your carts together now. Any further enquiries to Dave Petrusma on 0417 135 240.
